• Toledo is a Los Angeles–based design studio led by Lauren Lubell and Patrick Keville.

We come from industrial design, with backgrounds spanning furniture, lighting, and product development. Our work is grounded in how things are made—form, material, and production—but driven by a clear point of view.

We design, produce, and sell our own work through Toledo, our jewelry brand. This is an active practice, not a side project. It means we are continuously developing products, working with manufacturers, and bringing objects into the world ourselves.

That experience carries directly into our studio work. We understand not just how to design, but how to move a project from concept to production and into its final form in the market.

We operate across disciplines, moving between objects, environments, and visual direction—product design, furniture and home goods, retail and hospitality concepts, packaging, and creative direction. Regardless of category, the focus is consistent: to bring clarity, structure, and presence to what is being made.

Our approach is precise and iterative. We refine, adjust, and resolve until the work feels complete—balancing function with expression, and discipline with intuition.

The result is work that is considered, built, and able to stand on its own.

  • Toledo is rooted in a close understanding of the client—what they’re trying to achieve, what they value, and where they want to go.

We don’t rely on surface-level feedback or trends. Instead, we bring a clear design perspective to interpret those needs and shape them into something resolved, cohesive, and lasting.

Our role is to meet the client exactly where they are and carry the work further—toward a solution that feels natural, considered, and complete.

Like giving the right gift, it’s not about surprise for its own sake, but about showing a genuine understanding—something that fits, and feels right immediately.

  • Toledo operates across the full arc of a project—from initial sketch to final realization. We engage at any stage, whether shaping an idea at its inception or refining and resolving work already in motion.

Our focus is on bringing clarity and form—developing products, defining identity, and directing how work is ultimately seen and experienced. Each engagement is precise, with attention to proportion, material, and presence.

We do not expand projects unnecessarily. We refine them—making the right decisions at the right moments, and carrying the work through to a considered, finished state.

The result is work that feels cohesive, deliberate, and complete.

  • Our work spans:

    1. Furniture and Objects — furniture, home goods, appliances, and hardware designed with a focus on form, function, and longevity.

    2. Retail and Hospitality — environments, display systems, and spatial concepts for retail, restaurants, and trade shows.

    3. Packaging and Brand Expression — structural and graphic packaging, with a focus on luxury categories including fragrance and spirits.

    4. Product Development and Manufacturing — sourcing, engineering, and production across materials and processes, with a strong ability to bring complex ideas into reality.

    5. Creative Direction — art direction, concept development, and the execution of photography and visual campaigns.

    6. Jewelry and Personal Objects — design and development of pieces at the scale of the body, with attention to detail and material presence.

    7. Special Projects — toys, educational products, and event-based work that require a tailored, concept-driven approach.

Across all of these areas, the common thread is a commitment to making—bringing ideas into clear, resolved form, regardless of category.

  • Toledo is led by designers. Our work is grounded in industrial design—form, material, proportion, and the realities of making.

We are not generalists or business consultants. We approach each project as designers, bringing a trained eye and a practiced hand to every decision, from concept through production.

Our work balances precision with imagination. It is as practical as it is expressive—built to function, but also to carry presence and meaning.

We move fluidly between disciplines, but the approach remains consistent: a serious commitment to design as a craft.

The result is work that is both considered and complete—objects and environments that hold up visually, physically, and over time.
